As I mentioned on Luke's blog my Dad came down for a quick weekend visit with the kids and us. We had a lovely relaxing weekend though Luke was sick all Saturday with a fever that has now turned into Roseola or it was Roseola the whole time. Anyways, we had a nice time catching up and hanging out. On Saturday morning we all walked down to the park by the library and the kids did some goofing around. I took Stella down her first slide and she loved it - I think we have a future daredevil here.
As I have mentioned before Stella is really coming into her own now. She is rolling over like it is old news. She sits up for longer periods of time and is really trying to creep forward when she is on her stomach.
My Dad got to experience the full force of two kids in the house this weekend and he may have gone home with a little cold. He saw first hand the chaos that we call our family and the reasons as to why we are a little sleep deprived (Stella was up every hour on the hour last night). I think she was fighting a head cold and an upset tummy.
She is really enjoying her solids and I'm starting to ween so I'm sure that has something to do with it. I had wanted to try and breastfeed for the full year but I just got news that my cholesterol is really high and my doctor feels I need to go on medicine which I can't take while breastfeeding. It is getting time anyways as work is really starting to get busy but I am going to miss that extra bonding with my daughter and the quiet time at work!!!!
Anyways, back to my Dad's visit. My Dad is a master gardener and Curtis and I have been talking about wanting to put in a little garden for this summer. So my Dad watched how the sun moved across our yard for his first two days here and suggested where we should plant our first plant bed. Curtis and he then went and did some plant shopping and we now have a small garden! We are very excited to be able to eat our own vegetables, show our children the importance of patience and tending to something with care and forethought. Curtis had also been dying to get the topsy-turvy to plant some tomatoes so this gave him the excuse. We now have a good variety to start with and have it still be small enough to see how we can do with the commitment of a garden. I am looking forward to the fresh strawberries and bell peppers. There is nothing like a fresh vegetable or fruit eaten straight off the vine that has been warmed by the morning sun. In addition to our vegetable garden I've been slowly and actually quite lazily trying to grown some flowers. Luke and I have been planting bulbs and few have started to bloom. We also planted some vegetable seeds that I'm hoping we can transplant into the garden in a few weeks.
